The four C's of diamonds are easy to identify: Carat, Cut, Color, Clarity. The four C's of a brand? Maybe not so much. Here, we ask Pietra's jewelry designers to tell us what makes up their four C's: who is their dream celebrity? What is a common trait of all their amazing clients? What is the most prized piece from their collection, and what is unique about their craft.
Today, we're speaking to L.A.-based jeweler Ann Korman, the brains and beauty behind ARK Jewelry. If you're looking for a piece of jewelry to center you, Korman is your go-to. A yoga and meditation fanatic, Korman's fine jewelry process began in India, where she learned all about the Vedic understanding of gemstones. Here are Ann Korman's Four C's of ARK Fine Jewelry:
CELEBRITY
Someone like Elizabeth Gilbert. Or [Mallika Chopra]. She writes about mindfulness and medication. [Someone] that, like myself, are looking for more meaning that just "buying."
CLIENT
They care about the unexpected and want something meaningful. A piece that tells a story.
COLLECTION
It always changes, but I would say one of them would be the Halo ring. I feel it's so special and it's heavy...and I like having that weight to it. It feels grounding. It is a beautiful piece that I can wear all the time and never take off. Right now I am loving my newest collection which I will be launching soon. It is called the Aurora collection and it is a happy collection that makes me smile. It reminds me of new beginnings.
CRAFT
I pretty much start my process with [mindfulness]. My process is very organic and a lot of times it comes from my experiences in life. The pieces often just come out organically. A lot of times after I meditate I draw or I paint and the collection seems to come out of that process.
